You will be presented with a screen where you can connect your online accounts. Go back to your launched VM and press ENTER.Įnter the password that you had setup while creating account and press ENTER. Click on Settings and under Storage verify that Controller IDE has empty record again. To remove installation medium, open VirtualBox (not the VM, but VirtualBox application itself) and click on newly created VM. You will a message “Please remove the installation medium and then press ENTER” Once installation is complete, you will see below screen. Wait for the installation to complete, it will take a few minutes. On Who are you prompt, enter your details and click Continue On Where are you prompt, select your location and click Continue. On Write Changes to the disk prompt, click Continue Under Installation Type select Erase disk and install ubuntu and click Install Now. Select Keyboard Layout and click Continueįor updates and other software I will leave the default settings and click Continue Select your preferred Language and click on Install Ubuntu. But installation basics would remain the same. By the time you are installing, you may see different screens depending upon the latest version at the that time. Installing Linux inside Windows using VMWare In this tutorial, I will show how to install Ubuntu inside Windows using VMWare. You don’t have to make actual changes to the disk partition, no changes in the boot and Linux runs like any other application inside Windows. VMWare and similar virtualization software can be of great help. You may have to use Linux as part of the course curriculum, for some development tools (like Docker) or just for experimenting with Linux desktop before making the switch. And for a relatively better desktop experience, a VM is better. WSL and WSL2 might be easier but not everyone has access to them.
